Northside Bike Co-op started when three friends — Marcus Webb, Nina Soto, and Alex Kim — got tired of watching good bikes rust in alleys while neighbors priced out of new ones. They pooled tools, leased a narrow shop, and built a membership model: pay what you can for bench time, learn to wrench, leave with wheels that work. Used bikes are refurbished and sold sliding-scale. Earn-a-bike programs for teens run each spring. The co-op’s founding belief hasn’t changed: mobility is a neighborhood asset, not a luxury brand. Marcus still tunes brakes most Saturdays; Nina runs the parts counter; Alex teaches the Intro to Flat Repair class that somehow always fills.
